Fallen Blossoms, A Haiku

Facing Forward, Pursuing Progress
I adore the simplicity, as well as the challenge of Haiku. The constraints focus my mind, seeking out the essence of the moment, feeling, notion, distilling it to brilliant singularity.
step by step
I move through
weariness
underneath the clouds
moments of sunlight pulled down
the delights of spring
amidst the birdsong
and the days getting warmer
petals are falling
Blogger Fandango created his own version of the WordPress Word of the Day Challenge once WordPress stopped updating their page. I appreciate deeply that he launched his own version. This creative exercise helps me grow.
Today’s word is “capricious“.
the capricious sun
with such brutal cruelty
and life-giving love
Here’s my contribution to today’s FOWC (Fandango’s One-Word Challenge): lucid. In keeping with my current blogging focus of haiku, here you go:
as dawn’s light rises
my dreams brilliantly lucid
fading as I wake
within coffee shops
respites from the coldest rain
such sanctuary
I took this photo at Everett’s Narrative Coffee. The ambiance delights me. With its brick walls, I return to many cold, wet days from when I lived downtown Seattle. Books, pastries, coffee; the elements of classic elegance.
Just a little editing in Photoshop to capture the mood. A little blur for a vignette, a bit of color balancing, et viola!
the motion of spring
turning sunlight into life
this moment embraced
these spring irises
the other side of the fence
caressed by the rain
branches filtering sunlight
springtime’s gentleness
