I adore the simplicity, as well as the challenge of Haiku. The constraints focus my mind, seeking out the essence of the moment, feeling, notion, distilling it to brilliant singularity.
Word of the Day Challenge: Habit, A Haiku
walking every day
my delightful new habit
feeling the sunlight
Today’s Word of the Day Challenge is to use the word “Habit”. As one of my key foci in 2021 has been daily walks, this seems a relevant post. This photo is from one my neighborhood parks from a walk this week.
On the Edge of Night

Haiku Response to the FOWC: Disparage
who can disparage
the wind’s grace within the sky
bird’s dance on the wing
This is my response to the Fandango Word Of The Day Challenge: “disparage”. One of my photos taken earlier this week, image edited in Adobe Spark, font Lora Regular.
Spring’s Sunlight
within spring’s sunlight
trees moving so gracefully
songbirds uncaring
Early Spring
springtime is nearing
flowers eating the sunshine
blown by the cool breeze
Temperamental Weather
walking in the rain
which soon becomes a strong wind
and then it’s sunshine
Spring Approaches
underneath the sun
my soul lifted by it’s grace
as spring approaches
Took this photo on a recent walk. It’s been quite lovely the past few days here in Seattle. Though we still have a few days until spring officially begins, it’s presence is felt. And I’ve seen other signs of spring: trees, especially cherry trees, are starting to blossom. Winter’s grip, around here at least, seems to have weakened, perhaps even released. We can hope, at least.
Underneath Sunlight
underneath sunlight
springtime’s grace flows through the firs
still need my jacket
Today’s sunlight was very welcome. I’ve been fighting some kind of “bug” since Tuesday night. The worst was Wednesday, but I’m still lacking energy. I was able to get a walk in this after, and get plenty of school stuff done, but I’m now wiped out. I expect to be near 100% by tomorrow, though.
A Saturday Morning Haiku
resisting waking
sunlight reaches my window
life keeps on moving
Another morning, life keeps moving. Onwards…
