Tonight’s Haiku: April 24, 2025

with hints of purple
flowers changing through the spring
new wonders each day

Today’s Haiku: January 3, 2024

within winter's depths
and sunlight's power reduced
life resists the gloom

One-Liner Wednesday: A Monoku Response

Autumn Leaves
Autumn Leaves

reddening leaves not yet journeying earthwards, soon autumn storms come

Here’s my contribution to Linda G. Hills “One-Liner Wednesday” prompt. I discovered this through Fandango’s response to the same prompt.

This is a monoku, essentially a variant of haiku. If you’re not familiar with them, Jason Muckley has a great explanation on his blog.

Newness

winter’s grip loosening
with the clouds drifting eastward
wonder of birdsong

A PNW Morning

sunrise climbing clouds
fires of life stretching westward
my dreams still speaking

Created with Adobe Spark.

A Saturday Morning Haiku

dawn hidden by clouds

crow’s vociferous debate

I return to sleep

Crows created quite a ruckus this morning. A multitude gathered, some kind of mass debate. Congress arguing tax cuts. They abruptly dissolve. My mind drifts back to dreams.

Rain in the Moonlight

rain atop the roof

calm, staccato memories

droplets of moonbeams

A haiku about self doubts

garbage in my brain insecurity’s drivel damaging my dreams So many negative feelings. Why things lije self doubt dominates our brain cycles eludes me. But I seek to overcome this.

Journeys Through Seattle Traffic

attempting movement

I’m mostly stationary

solace through singing

A Haiku For A Rainy Night

this hard, cold rain
flowers in December
a street light flickers
